Active School Uniform
At Grindon Infant School, we wear an active school uniform to support our commitment to high-quality play, physical activity and learning through the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme. The uniform consists of a red polo shirt, a green cardigan/jumper, plain black shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms and plain black trainers.
An active uniform allows children to move freely, comfortably and confidently throughout the school day, whether they are learning in the classroom, enjoying outdoor play or taking part in PE. As children will already be dressed in suitable clothing for physical activity, there will be no need to change for PE lessons, helping to maximise learning time and promote independence.
This approach encourages active, healthy lifestyles while ensuring children are always ready to learn, play and thrive.
If parents wish their child to wear uniform with the School motif, the following can be ordered from Little Gems in Washington:
- red polo shirt with school motif
- green sweatshirt/cardigan with school motif
- green fleece jacket with school motif
- school bags (these can be purchased for £2 from the school office)
- school caps (these can be purchased for £2 from the school office)
Alternatively red polo shirts, green sweatshirts/cardigans without the motif can be purchased locally along with black leggings, tracksuit bottoms or shorts and plain black trainers.
The Head Teacher reserves the right to prohibit the wearing of certain types of clothing or particular items which are deemed, on safety or other grounds, to be unsuitable for wear in School.
Children are not allowed to wear jewellery in School. If ears are to be pierced, please arrange this during the summer break (6 weeks holiday) so that the wounds are healed as earrings must be removed for School.
